Emotional training

Experiences of 8 years leadership-training brought us to a very important question: Why are people featured with emotions, while so many participants have peoblems, dealing with them. They would rather ignore them! During our research we found every basic emotion to have a very specific signification – for ourselves and for our environment. Emotions are neither good or bad, they help us in every moment to master life. Behind every emotion there is a functional power which leads us to a predictable target.

Looking for a consistent state of stability we found, that it is not based on the absence of emotions, but on a light tension of every emotion, a kind of protection-shield which we call “emotional balance”. This state brings us to a relaxed, open and resilient state, the starting-point of everything we need to go for.

We developed a number of methods, to learn to produce emotions on several levels. Entry-aid are gestures, facial expressions, terms and memories. This way we leave the layers of analytics and connect body and thoght with conscious, guided emotions.

It was a huge discovery, that suppression and ignorance in terms of emotions, lead to comparable crisis, like uncontrollable over-reactions. Mastering emotions is not domination but governance. It is the ability which state of which emotion helps most, now and here. For every Emotion we defined 4 intensities: crisis, balance, escalation and extreme.

In an evaluation-phase of 1,5 years we discovered the CoE also as a nice performing analysis-tool for leaders. The leader is easily able to classify reactions and missed reactions of team-members, and can easily develop appropriate strategies, to resolve critical situations. We’ve got masses of examples from appraisal interviews, from change-processes, members rejecting changes behaving like paralyzed.

Participants are to get in conscious touch during our training or coaching-sessions. We lead and help through the process of getting to know and separate each basic emotion, and train them, to connect this knowledge and ability with their plans of reaching the company-goals.

In the same run, we raise the communication quality in the company. Perception and reaction get into a stable and distinguished process. This kind of communication needs an environment of mindfulness and respect of both – the trainers and the participants. It is the same attitude we do business-coaching with since many years.

The training-concept includes a good measure of time for every participant, to reflect his emotions on every layer of of his existence. This is literally ‘training’. Emotions need to be exercised intensively, to have a sustainable change in intuitive reactions.

We, as a team of trainers, are very aware, that we deal in a field, which has only little space in enterprises up to today. Therefore we are very sensible introducing this subject. We are practiced to handle intensive reactions and from the very beginning, participants learn, to always return into a neutral state.
